The core teaching of Master Taisen Deshimaru’s Zen is ‘Mushotoku Mind.’
What is ‘Mushotoku Mind’?
Mushotoku is a Japanese word that that refers to a practice without objective, without a goal.
When we practice zazen it can help you to concentrate, it can help you relax and it can help improve your well-being but it is not a tool that we use for this purpose. It is not a method or technique that we use for personal development.
The Buddha way is a deep spiritual practice that goes beyond our personal selves, beyond our wants and our desires. To practice zazen without goal, ‘with mushotoku mind’, is to be in harmony with all things. It is to find true peace in our lives.
